Technical Information

Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test replicates the average conditions of a rain shower. The fabric of this jacket is water repellent: this is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. As a result, the fabric does not soak up the water and remains lightweight and breathable. A fabric is made water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. What's more, all the seams are taped.
How to maintain the waterproofing of your jacket over the long term
The fabric's water repellent properties must be reactivated in order to preserve long-lasting effective waterproofing: we recommend that this is done every 3 washes or after wearing a dozen times in the rain. After washing, the garment must be thoroughly rinsed, after which the water repellent properties can be easily reactivated by warming: in a tumble dryer or with a hairdryer for a relatively short period. You will find all our advice in the care instructions of this product data sheet.
Additional recommended products
Raincut over-trousers for protecting the lower body as well, so that you can have a complete outfit that offers highly effective protection against wind and showers.
Hi-tech lining
The main body of the jacket is lined with mesh to enhance the garment's breathability, this lining also makes it much more pleasant on the skin.
Waterproof rating expressed in mm or Schmerber
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the higher the waterproof rating of the fabric. A component with a 2000 mm waterproof rating can therefore withstand the pressure exerted by a 2000 mm column of water
Component breathability
To assess the breathability of the fabric, the evaporative resistance, RET (test based on the ISO 11092 standard), is measured. The lower the resistance of the fabric, the more water vapour generated by body movements is allowed to escape and hence the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 9 < RET < 12 = very breathable fabric / 12 < RET < 20 = breathable fabric / RET > 20 = little or no breathability.
A score for comparing the products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. A score ranging from A to E is provided so that you can easily identify the more eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.) Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. Exactly what I was looking for: light, comfortable, non-selective and not hideous. Not tested in drenching rain yet but kept me dry in s shower. Very happy.
Keeps you super dry
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
This jacket is good, I got caught it a ridiculous downpour while camping and my top half stayed super dry. My only complaint is that the pockets don't have zips and there is no inside pocket.
QUECHUA Arpenaz 100 Women's Waterproof Nature Hiki

Just wonder why the mens version of this jacket has (a) an inside pocket which the womens version does not, and (b) why the mens version has a Velcro strap on the back of the hood so it can be pulled back, the womens doesn't and (b) the mens version has Velcro on the cuffs.. do the designers think for some reason that women don't also need these things??
