Through our strong commitment to preserving our planet, we are proud to share that Decathlon Masinag has earned its LEED® certification. As one of the few buildings in the Country with this certification, Decathlon Masinag takes pride in its sustainable features such as bike racks available for everyone, lesser use of water in the building, energy reduction features, and so much more.
In April 2020, the U.S. Green Building Council awarded Decathlon Masinag Silver Certification under the LEED v4 Building Design and Construction: Retail. LEED certification identifies Decathlon Masinag as a showcase example of sustainability and demonstrates your leadership in transforming the building industry.

Location and Transportation
1/ The project is within an 800-meter walking distance to basic services and within 400-meter walking distance to mass transportation.
2/ Bike racks are provided for both guests and staff. These features help promote compact development and use of alternative transportation in order to lessen vehicle reliance and therefore reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.
Sustainable Site
1/ To minimize the heat island effect, the project uses white paint with high SRI for the roof and all parking spaces are located below the retail area allowing it to be covered or shaded from the sun.
2/ An Erosion and Sedimentation Plan was implemented during construction to reduce pollution from construction activities by controlling soil erosion, waterway sedimentation and airborne dust.
Water Use Reduction
1/ There are no permanent irrigation such as sprinklers. Only native or adaptive plants are used for landscaping which will need little or no maintenance.
2/ The project uses dual-flush toilets and low-flow urinals, faucets and showerheads that resulted to 41.44% indoor water use reduction.
Energy Use Reduction
1/ The 20.5% reduction in energy use is due to the combination of energy efficient building systems. These include the use of efficient packaged air conditioning units and inverter units; installation of skylight and LED lights all throughout the project that resulted to at least 70% reduced lighting power density; use of sandwich panel, insulated roofing, and white roof paint to further minimize heat gain.
2/ Efficient HVAC zoning and controls, including the use of occupant sensors for restrooms and meeting room lights, help in conserving energy.
3/ Zero use of CFC.
Indoor Environmental Quality
1/ Sufficient flow rate of outdoor air and use of MERV 13 filters ensures a clean indoor air that will promote the occupants’ comfort and well-being.
2/ Use of materials with low volatile organic compounds (VOC) and implementation of Indoor Air Quality Management during construction helps minimize indoor air contamination from construction materials.
3/ Installation of skylight that provides natural daylight to at least 75% of regularly occupied spaces.
Materials and Resources
1/ At least 75% of the construction waste was diverted from landfill through recycling and reuse.
2/ Provision of appropriately sized garbage bins including bins for e-waste, to encourage segregation and recycling.
